This ring is very pretty and I love to look at it all the time. BUT the blue portion covering the dragon is plastic and scratches up very easy. The pewter metal it's made of is a dry, un-glossed metal that reminds me of chalk when I slide it on and off my finger. The dragon is very neat looking but can be hard to make-out if not in a well lit area. Overall the ring is nice but not worth this price.

I rarely take mine off & the blue enamel has never scratched. "Pewter Metal," as described by another reviewer as feeling "chalk-like" - it's pewter, it looks and feels like pewter (remember: never submerge in dishwater + unlike sterling, no chronic polishing). The idea is that the dragon is hidden, & must be looked at closely to be seen. I'm brutal on jewelry, which is why i'm a fan of Alchemy UK: they make intriguing, well-balanced (esp. rings) pieces that require your attention to fully appreciate - thus making them eternal favourites Finely crafted & detailed pewter is not inexpensive, & my friends who work w/the material are always amazed by how little i pay for Alchemy UK pieces, & are always inspired by them. Try it, you might like it!
